Apart from their leading tourist attractions, the five tourist regions offer unique landscapes with plenty of places to visit. These include the Harz mountains and the Brocken peak, which are steeped in legend, the most northerly wine-growing region in Germany on the rivers Saale and Unstrut in the milder south, and the rural Altmark district (german Website):
