Ministerial portfolio
The Ministry of Justice and Gender Equality of the State of Saxony-Anhalt is responsible for all five branches of the judiciary:
- Ordinary jurisdiction
- Administrative jurisdiction
- Employment jurisdiction
- Social jurisdiction
- Financial jurisdiction
Departments of Public Prosecution, penal institutions and community service in the state all fall under the remit of the Ministry.
The State Constitutional Court and the state commissioner for the documents of the national security service of the former GDR occupy a special position in the administration of justice.
The State Law Students’ Examination Authority, which is administered by the Ministry, is responsible for organising and conducting legal examinations, the examination of judicial officers, official solicitors and bailiffs, and recognising foreign examinations and EU aptitude tests for admission to the legal profession in the state of Saxony-Anhalt.
