On May 13^th-19^th, 2012 Minister-President (Governor) Dr. Reiner Haseloff, together with a delegation from the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, officially visits the United States of America. The program of the trip includes the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and California.

The United States of America and Saxony-Anhalt have close historical ties through General von Steuben from Magdeburg. As Inspector General of George Washington’s army, Steuben played an important part in the establishment of the United States.

Our Reformation heritage also links Saxony-Anhalt and the United States. It was from Saxony-Anhalt that Luther’s message spread across the world, and Protestantism has strong roots in the United States. Minister-President Haseloff would therefore like to invite all Americans to celebrate the 500^th anniversary of the Reformation with us in 2017 at the place where it began.

Since the reunification of Germany and the reestablishment of Saxony-Anhalt, the United States has made a significant contribution to economic revival, accounting for almost a fifth of foreign investments. Together with representatives of the Investment and Marketing Corporation of Saxony-Anhalt (IMG), the Minister-President will use this trip to present and promote our state as a business location.
