Since 20 March 2003, the Representation of the State of Saxony-Anhalt to the Federation has been based at 18 Luisenstrasse in the Mitte district of Berlin.
This function comes under the remit of the State Chancellery in Magdeburg, which is the official residence of the Minister-President Dr. Reiner Haseloff. He is represented in Berlin by the envoy of the state of Saxony-Anhalt to the Federation, State Secretary Dr. Michael Schneider.
The state envoy and the employees at the state representation work hard on the Committees of the Federal Assembly, where they try to gain support for the initiatives of the Government of Saxony-Anhalt and prepare its decisions at the Federal Assembly. They lobby for Saxony-Anhalt in the federal capital. Their task is to foster a good relationship with all the important federal organisations and other interest groups, and provide background information for the State Government and the State Parliament on a regular basis.
